Este libro se conocer\u00eda como <em>De sphaera mundi<\/em>, o <em>Tractatus de sphaera<\/em>,<em> Textus de sphaera<\/em>, o simplemente <em>De sphaera<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Al <em>Tractatus de Sphaera<\/em> se le considera el libro m\u00e1s influyente en astronom\u00eda hasta los trabajos de Copernico. En \u00e9l aparece ya la tierra como una esfera. Es curioso como, ahora lo vemos en la serie Isabel, en 1492 Cristobal Col\u00f3n se peleaba por justificar que la tierra era redonda, cuando en 1472 apareci\u00f3 la primera edici\u00f3n en Ferrara.<\/p>\n<p>En la imagen mostramos una edici\u00f3n de 1550 de Lorenzo Torrentino, nombre italianizado del holand\u00e9s Laurens van den Bleeck (1499\u20131563). Este tip\u00f3grafo trabaj\u00f3 bajo el mecenazgo de Cosimo de Medici, duque de Florencia.<\/p>\n<p>Johannes de Sacrobosco naci\u00f3 cerca de 1195 en Holywood, Yorkshire, Inglaterra, por eso se le conoce tambi\u00e9n como John of Holywood, donde fue monje en el monasterio agustino. En 1220 march\u00f3 a estudiar en la Universidad de Par\u00eds, llegando a ser profesor.<\/p>\n<p>Tractatus de Sphaera no fue su \u00fanico libro, en 1225 escribi\u00f3 <em>Algorismus aka De Arte Numerandi<\/em>, que contribuy\u00f3 a la expansi\u00f3n de los m\u00e9todos hindo-ar\u00e1bicos en Europa.
